Minnesota Stories is On Holiday
December 09, 2007

MN Stories is on holiday break until January 2008.

The site has been serving up fresh Minnesota-themed videos nearly every weekday since July, 2005. This is video #541. Check out the other 540 and comment if you have any favorites. Thanks to everyone who contributes, comments, and otherwise makes this pioneering community videoblog a great success.

Meanwhile, visit the many fine Minnesota videoblogs in the sidebar and find me over at The UpTake and my my personal blog.

I don't visit as often as I'd like, but whenever I do, I'm always amazed at the stuff you have here. I'm also always amazed that you've managed to keep it going every weekday.
There's only so long you can do something creative day in, day out, without financial reward, when you have as many other projects and ideas as you have, Chuck.
Always smart to let things lie fallow for a while, to regenerate. The great thing about a blog is that you can go away and come back, and all your viewers are still subscribed, waiting for the second coming.
Maybe if you can't yet get sponsorship and corporate involvement, you'll find someone who's willing to volunteer to share the burden of sourcing and posting. Until then, congratulations on a massively great job with this amazing site, and good luck with your other projects.

Chuck: I'll miss MNStories, but congrats on this amazing project. At a certain point, you have to have a life too. And make a buck.

I know I said it on twitter, but I'll say it here too. Keep vocalizing what you need for Minnesota Stories, keep putting the words out there. The universe will listen and send an answer, maybe not in the form you expect, but it will answer. Many thanks to you for showing us Minnesota through your eyes. This site has been and will continue to be one of the web's beautiful destinations, with a solid sense of place and sense of humor. I've definitely got faith it will bloom again, and in the meantime I'm looking forward to seeing what you'll do next. Ok, off to shed a teen tear. Hugs to Chuck & Lorika!

Bittersweet. Every hiatus is another premiere. Thank you, Minnesota Stories.

Sad to see this.

I believe MNStories was the first sites that showed one of my video way back when.

Onwards and Upwards Chuck :)

A sad day... thank you Chuck for this site and the work you did with it. It was an important place for me check regularly. We had some great videos, and conversations here. I'm sorry it's over.

At least you're not dead. (Well, it's true.)

High five for creating this great website in the first place, and for being so successful in your other projects that you need to hiatusize this one.

thanks for the kind words everyone. i have to admit i wept like a little girl about having put the ol' girl down, and i looked into her eyes and she begged me to do it. (what is this, ol' yeller? pretty much.)

oh yeah, and nobody actually died!
plenty of good news things ahead.
big bug.

Every time I've come here to watch a video I have enjoyed it. Sorry to see it go. I too blame Corn Guy.

Posted by: quirk at November 9, 2007 01:13 PM

i always point to mnstories as an amazing example of what a hyper local videoblog can be. i will continue to do so!

cheers chuck!

I'm sorry to see the best PBS series on Minnesota end...

But I understand. Corn Guy pulls in more chicks.

Thanks Chuck for all the vids! I am forever grateful to be in your blogroll. Hope to catch you around the cities again sometime! You're always welcome at the coffeeshop.

i should clarify i have not had much sleep, so when I typed "big bug" - i meant... okay, actually i literally meant a huge freaking bug.

Corn Guy gets laid way more than me.

If MN Stories is on hiatus I can only assume that good things are happening elsewhere. There is only so much energy in the universe, and we each have to decide where our share gets distributed.

Hopefully you'll be able to ramp up the whole operation and get this puppy percolating again.

Til then, I wait with anticipation for the new news. :)

Well, it's not April1st so you must be serious. :) Thanks for all of your work on MN Stories, Chuck, and good luck with all of the other pots you have your fingers stuck into. If there is more to come on this site in the future, I can't wait to see it! Peace.

i'll miss your minnesota stories for sure, chuck. you know this website is one of the reasons i moved here, so i'm sad that it's going away. when my friends on the east coast said "why minnesota?!?" i'd just send them a link over here. whether they understood that this is the place to be or not, i don't know. but it's the place for me, and for that, i thank you.

i hope this is not goodbye forever, but just goodbye...for now.

Posted by: marko at November 10, 2007 10:23 PM

Posted by: Clintus McGintus at November 11, 2007 11:59 AM

honey bunny, i'm so glad you moved here. that minnesota stories played some tiny part, is still one of the coolest and best compliments of all time!

starfire: your soul is in this place.

marko: that reminds me, one of many unedited videos is "Bikini babes on ice"

Posted by: chuck at November 11, 2007 06:20 PM

aww so sad! i'll miss you mnstories!

Posted by: dolly vu at November 15, 2007 01:38 AM

it sounds like local podcast luminaries may be bringing MN Stories back to life... "stay tuned."

Posted by: chuck at November 15, 2007 11:55 AM

I feel somehow that this is all my fault.

I will stay tuned, indeed.
