Mike on the Smoking Ban
October 02, 2007

Mike from Minnesota wants you to know that Adolph Hitler was the first person to ban smoking in bars and restaurants.

Welcome to fresh air, Mike.

Looks like the "Right to be stupid" movement found the right spokesperson...

Actually, wasn't it Charlie Chaplain, "the Little Tramp" beloved by millions, who first suggested going smokefree? In any case, the kids have never heard of him, either, which is too bad.

You can still smoke, dude. You just can't force your goddamn habit down my lungs. And don't tell me that I don't have to come to the bar if I don't want to. YOU don't have to go to the bar if you don't want to. Stay home and smoke.

Smoking bans are awesome. I'm tired of a 10% minority thinking they own the bar.

no offense, but the last time i was able to smoke in a bar was 2003. it was banned in NY and MA and then i moved here right after it was banned in the TC's.

i'm a smoker and i support the ban. not sure if that is a contradiction in itself, but the way i see it is that i don't want to subject my friends and family to all the second hand smoke when we go out. if i want to kill myself slowly, that's ok. but i don't want to endanger anyone else in the process.

i understand Mike's upset, but he should look at the big picture. and i'm pretty sure that "kids these days" are a little familiar with 'ol Adolph.
