A Trip to MnDOT With Andy Singer
September 04, 2007

Ken Avidor brings us this visit to the Minnesota Department of Transportaion building with Cartoonist Andy Singer, who doesn't really like cars.

One correction to a claim in this video: The Twin Cities are not designated a Non-Attainment area by the Environmental Protection Agency. It's been at least 5 years since either Ramsey or Hennepin Country were in Non-Attainment status for certain pollutants.

Amazing how in talking about public works projects and particularly the higwhay and roads infrastructre that we never accurately and honestly describe the cost to taxplayers and the level of subsidization, year after year, that goes into maintaining the automobile mnaufacturig, oil, rubber and tire industries.

Then, when it comes time to talk about public transport rail and other forms of more environmentally friendly and less wasteful improvements, the Republicans scream about the taxpayers burden and public subsidization. WHAT?

Billions and billions and billions and billions and then billions more will continue to slide into the sinkhole of toxic waste and pollution that eminates from our highways and automobiles. It has to end. Reason must gain ground on this insanity. But not before Rudy Luther has given many more millions in campaign contributions to ther GOP.
