Hillary and Obama, lefties and geeks. They were all at the YearlyKos progressive blogger convention, along with new journalism movers and shakers like Jay Rosen. There was a strong MInnesota contingent, including Mark Gisleson from Norwegianity, Robin Marty and Abdi Aynte from Minnesota Monitor, and Rob Levine of Cursor.org.
Jason Barnett and I were there videotaping everything and everyone we could for The Uptake, a new video citizen journalism project. There you'll find lots of full-length interviews, my travel diary video, and more to come.
If you're interested in picking up a digital camera and covering political events, shoot me an email.
Oh, and do us a favor? Add The Uptake to your blogroll and help spread the word. We're in the mood for link-love. Oh, yeah.

At the risk of beating a dead horse, I'd like to chime in again with a concern I raised last December. I love your work and probably agree with 80 percent or more of your views. However, even if your campaign coverage is objective and dispassionate, Rocketboom and you should disclose your apparent financial connection to the Edwards Campaign, so viewers can assess it when watching your videos. In a day when videobloggers are asserting their legitimate rights as the people's journalists, I believe you need to make such full disclosure part of your stock-in-trade.

I currently have no financial relationship with any campaign. But I was paid once to make a video for Edwards earlier this year - yes, good to disclose that fact.
Edwards is a favorite in this crowd, and probably got the most applause (and a couple of standing ovations) at the Kos debate.
I don't really feel the need to disclose a past client relationship for all time though. I'll be making a lot of political videos in the future, and since I have no relationship to a campaign, I'm a free agent.
Sounds like an interesting convention, but political events aren't really my thing. There are a lot of other interesting events coming up in the area. I am most excited about the Spyder test rides!
