Citizen Journalists and the Edwards Campaign
January 13, 2007

I was one of several citizen journalist-types tagging along with the Edwards campaign when he announced his run for the presidency. I was with them from New Orleans to Iowa and New Hampshire, where I jumped off and headed back home. Here's my first dispatch, featuring an interview with Robert Scoble and NCDem Amy. Read more on the Edwards blog.

2008 is being called the "YouTube election." The Washington Post and ABC News both have good stories on the phenomenon.

big admirer of your work chuck.... so pardon me while I bitch: just like with traditional media, bloggers-vloggers-podcasters do not belong getting on a plane with Edwards. Oh he can invite you.. thats nice.. but there is a fundamental corrupting of reporters that HST exposed best.. when they're courted and given perks by the very people they should be reporting.

get them bloggers OFF the plane and back to critical reporting.

much respect.....

Chuck, I caught Amanda's mention of you on her ABC News videoblog. Her source was the artcile in The Washington Post. The Post alleges that Rocket Boom and you are paid publicists for Edward. Is that true?

sorry, i didn't see your comments until now!

bike-mark: what's HST? what a few people seem to miss is that i'm not paid by a news organization to report "objectively" on anything. there's no critical reporting for me to get back to.

Eg: We've probably gone back and forth enough times elsewhere, but to answer your question: No, we are not paid publicists, nor does that article say that. I was not paid to blog about Edwards, or say anything in particular, or even videotape anything in particular.

I'm a longtime public Edwards supporter. He's in my film, Blogumentary. Also, I make my living shooting and editing stories for online distribiution. i.e. I'm a freelance vlogger/videographer/editor/producer. Andrew and the Edwards campaign invited me along on this announcement, knowing I was an Edwards fan and knowing I would probably shot and edit something interesting if given the access.

I can see now, especially after Amanda's somewhat aggravating video, I need to make a video about this. :-)
