Investigative Report: Sneak Peak
September 21, 2006

The hot story today: Klobuchar aide loses job for viewing leaked Kennedy ad. [Video: WCCO] Local blogger Noah Kunin went looking for past ads from Scott Howell, who makes ads for the Mark Kennedy campaign. Noah found a Kennedy ad that hadn't been released yet. I'll show you just how easy and legal it is to find video ads on the unsecure Scott Howell web site - coming soon.

Let me state an important point here: Scott Howell's client pages, with links to video ads, were unprotected and publicly accessible before last night. One could access them by entering a client name in the password field, which simply redirects to a public client page. Or, one could do a little research and easily discover those client pages.

I'm not a lawyer, and clearly Noah Kunin exercised poor judgement. But there's a lot of overreacting going on and some of it stems from a lack of technological understanding. I hope to shed some light on these issues.

here's proof that there was not even password protection. only a page that makes Scott Howell's clients feel like there's password protection, when in reality it's a useless page that redirects to whatever you type in + .html.

How very disappointing... you should've skipped the nap.

Actually, to set the record strait - it wasn't a "nap", that's just what Chuck calls sleep when he's this crunched.

thanks honey!

this is the busiest i've ever been in my entire life. i've hardly slept, and i'm constantly editing. so sadly still no video about this. but much of what i have to say is on New Patriot, check out my long comment in this thread in particular.

I dig the dramatic "Chuck Olson" echo after the intro.

Mint.
