MN Bluegrass & Old Time Music Festival

DUANE WRITES: It was a rain-soaked Bluegrass Music Festival this year at El Rancho Manana. We once again take a look at a few of the highlighted performers ranging from a four man group to a man who performs by himself. We also take a look at the different shops and stands that were there. Enjoy one of the best Bluegrass Festivals in the area.

Had Enough? (Sing-a-long)

CHUCK SEZ: Warning, entertaining lefty propoganda ahead! Why is it that primarily lefties produce independent film and video? (A notable exception being local filmmaker Michael Wilson.) In the interest of balance, I challenge local righties to send in a short political video. Until then, please enjoy this video from Mike Mcintee, who writes:

Time to throw rascal John Kline out of Congress and elect an Agent of Change--Coleen Rowley in Minnesota's 2nd Congressional District. John Kline has voted with George Bush 94% of the time. He's supported the occupation of Iraq, illegal wiretaps, taken tainted money from corrupt Congressman Tom Delay and supports and gets money from the big oil companies. More info on John Kline at http://www.dumpjohnkline.blogspot.com. More on Coleen Rowley at http://www.coleenrowley.com.

Sing along...we know you've had enough!

Permission for use of music by the Squirrel Nut Zippers & Rickie Lee Jones from Executive Producer Howie Klein. Produced without the help of any campaign or any party.

Low in the Park

I really shouldn't post this video, because the audio is just terrible. I tried all kinds of tricks to make it sound better, so perhaps it's best to cue up "Silver Rider" on Low's The Great Destroyer and imagine yourself chillaxin' on a towel in Loring Park.

From Beirut to... those who love us

This isn't local... or is it?

Even if you don't have any Lebanese-American friends in Minnesota (as I do), perhaps you've eaten at Emily's Lebanese Deli and seen those faded posters on the wall of a beautiful country. How much of that is still standing?

Karina's Experiments

Karina is on a roll. First up we have a sweet musical experiment with PBR bottles called "The Warm Up". She has top secret plans for this bottled video technology. After that, a little pop-art time-lapse ditty called "Popsicleta". Back when it was sweltering hot, she even fried an egg on the sidewalk. Karina just got a new video camera, so do not attempt to stop her!

All week we're also running a sneak preview of the 2006 Sound Unseen trailer. The festival starts tomorrow and it's an amazing lineup.

Lake Francis

We're lucky. Every year, we hang out with our friends in a cabin on Lake Francis. It's the perfect lake: Fairly secluded, great for swimming, and lots of wildlife including bald eagles and loons. I managed to leave the video camera packed away for this year's trip, at least until our friends departed and we had one final day to get our nature groove on. Enjoy.

One Last Time In The Dome

Duane Kuss writes:

It was 100 degrees outside, but inside the dome it was comfortable in the mid 70's. Yes, there's a new Minnesota Twins stadium going to be built in the next couple years, but this was one day that our family was happy to watch Major League Baseball in a dome.

In this story you'll join the Kuss family and their participation in a game on Sunday, July 30th, 2006, when the Minnesota Twins faced the league leading Detroit Tigers. You'll experience all the great fun of going to a baseball game in the HHH dome and you'll even see a fantastic come from behind win by the Twins in the bottom of the 8th.
