The Standard Mill, better known as The Whitney Hotel, is undergoing another transformation: Posh riverfront condos neighboring the Mill City Museum and new Guthrie Theatre. The developer, Michael Roess from iMetroProperties.com, was kind enough to give Alex of Behind the Mortgage and me a tour of the renovation-in-progress. It's an amazing space full of both city history and, apparently, rock history.
If you're in the market, get a sneak peak at The Whitney Landmark Residences on March 25. Or just watch this video and dare to dream.

Nice piece. I guess I didn't really think about Minneapolis being a mill town - then again, I don't think about that much but hey general mills - gold metal flour - which might have been a part of General Mills - OK OK I get it. You know most bloggy stuff seems fine on the tiny screen, but I think this really needs your 42" plasma. Nice work - sound was good too. Is this your fine new camera?
yep, this is my Sony HC1 high def camera.
it really looks great with enough natural light, especially when that light is bathing old stone and timber. :-)
yeah, hang on to that lakeshore property. i'd like that someday, or at least a cabin.
yeah, really enjoyed this video/story.
old raw spaces excite me.

great video, chuck. it's no wonder the population of mpls is rising with those low, low condo prices! i'm serious. the cheap(er) housing is the main reason why the husband and i moved here. something like that on the east cost would go for a million, easy. but with that said, i don't think that kind of housing would suit me. i'm a house-by-the-lake kind of gal, too.
maybe...someday.
