Review: The Bad Waitress
December 29, 2005

We're trying something new here at Minnesota Stories: Restaurant and café reviews. First up is the new coffee shop/breakfast joint from the owner of the Spyhouse coffee shop, The Bad Waitress. I have to say I love the pulp fiction-inspired name and logo. Overall we liked it, and we are especially happy they serve breakfast all day. Lori had a bit of bad spinach and found her omelette a bit thin on the goodies, but my scramble with was full of gooey gouda goodness.

We don't have a rating system per se, but Lori gave it "3.5 out of 5 whatevers" and I gave it "2.5 3* out of 4 eyebrows." Yes, we realize we're annoying amateurs. But we won't be stopped. Next week, another café with a great menu.

* I later realized I was letting Lori's bad spinach infiltrate my own experience. I had yummy food, for cheap, in a nice atmosphere. What's not to like? Girl Friday also gives it 3 eyebrows.

A very important factor in the choice of a breakfast joint is the coffee. How was it?

Posted by: Great Stone Face at December 29, 2005 12:30 PM

The coffee was very good.

I should also reiterate that it's located at 26th and Nicollet Ave in S. Minneapolis.

Spy House is a classic. Decent coffee, great atmosphere. There are only a small handful of places in the world as comfortable and enjoyable as the Spy House.

Plus, I've got a soft spot for places that smell like smoke even though nobody smokes anymore.

They ought to reprimand the grill man for serving up some a bad spinach omelet.

Great review. I love the video aspect. I started posting reviews on one of my blogs, but they are written. I may have to think about going video.

Loved the video review, as I'm usually a little intimidated to try new places, worrying that I'm not hip enough. So it's nice to see what a place, and the food, really looks like.

Very cool. Original idea.

I am bookmarking this blog & reccomending it to my friends.

Chuck: "I should also reiterate that it's located at 26th and Nicollet Ave in S. Minneapolis."

Noted. We may be in northern Virginia, but we have a friend in Eagan who might be interested in The Bad Waitress.

I love this site. very entertaining.

I'm digging the eyebrow rating system.

I give you guys 4 eyebrows!

Oh, great! Now what am I gonna do with the digital camcorder I got for Christmas?

Good job!

Too much attitude there about cleaning my table. I won't return. Food was standard, no complaints, but when you get flack for asking for something basic, like a clean place to eat, then my attitude is, "there are too many other places to spend my hard-earned $$." Screw that.

chuck, the term is "rank amateurs." as in YOU SMELL, YOU STINKY BASTARDS! har har har.

bad spinach really irks me, it was a frequent problem with the eggs florentine at the Egg & I. if video is anything to be trusted, though, the toast and 'taters did look really good. next time please bring some kind of scent-capturing device. we need smell-o-vision, now.

Minnesota Stories rules.

Now help me with my upcoming documentary this summer, Chuck.

I was too distracted by Blur's Tender playing in the background at the beginning.

Best Song Ever.

Great review. I don't know about the eyebrow rating system but it was pretty amusing.

The best part is the way you and Lori interact. Very friendly and warm.
