Mooki's "Special Day"
December 15, 2005

This may well be a weekly threat. Unless y'all send in your stories (I know you're out there!) I will subject you to videos of my precious kitten Mooki. Actually that's a lie, you'll be subjected to Mooki no matter what. Here's his trip to the vet to get fixed. Be strong, little one.

I love that cat. The video was great.

Ah, little Mooki. When I still lived in Uptown that was the vet I took my girls to as well.

More Mookie! You should get a Mookie cam--it'll be the best thing since the Panda cam.

wow. that was terrible and cruel. i will no longer watch this blog.

What a cute cat! Yes, maybe neutering one's cat is cruel and unusual, but it is the right thing to do (I had a cat named Radar, in the early 70's, who was not neutered and an outdoor cat - he died of dehydratation due to excessive sexual activity - yes, that was diagnosed by his vet!)

Thanks for that little film, I will be back occasionally.

Funny video; I can't believe you guys actually talk like that to Mooki. I could have done without seeing Mooki's package though. I think the MookiCam would be really great. -Merry Christmas-

Yes, we actually talk like that. ; )

And, though it seems cruel, neutering and spaying is the least we as human caretakers can do. Please realize that one unspayed female feral cat can produce 3200 kittens in her short life in the "wild" of around 3 yrs. Who knows how many kittens an unaltered male whould father?

We in domesticating the cat, have taken on the responsibility of caring for them. We can either remove their ability to reproduce, or kill senseless thousands in shelters every year. Which one really seems more cruel?

Plus, Mooki is totally happy and back to normal (he was the next morning) and he doesn't miss his balls at all.

i'm going to go ahead and say that person was kidding.

either that, or just plain "nuts." i mean... misinformed.

Posted by: chuck at December 16, 2005 12:39 PM

Oh you could SO tell that when he looked at the camera that he knew JUST what was about to happen!

Good for you taking him in to get that done though :)

Posted by: David at December 18, 2005 04:39 PM

It's not enough you scratch your own balls, but did the cat get a scratch too!

Posted by: taulpaul at December 20, 2005 02:05 AM

Poor Mooki. Of course, as Lorika said, this really is a compassionate thing to do, in the long run. I have been to places where cats pretty much run wild and uncontrolled and it's not pretty - they become overpopulated and are kept in check by disease and predators.

It really is better this way.

Of course, Mooki probably doesn't think so. And I don't know what to think about you guys touching his nut sack like that.

I would take a gamble and say that Mook will not miss what he didn't yet use. I'm trying DESPERATELY to get my boyfriend's cat fixed and he thinks it's "mean".

No. "Mean" is letting the cat hump my winter bunny hat. "Mean" is having the cat scream and moan and freak out in my little apartment like a teenager denied the use of the family car. "Mean" is feline PMS without relief. Forever.

And it's not like the bunny hat is taking her out for cocktails, or anything,

The cat needs fixin. And FAST.

Mookie will get over it. Hell, He's over it already.

He had some handsome nads. Now their gone. Good for him.

Love,
Bek
