Have you seen any good stuff at the City Pages Get Reel filmfest? You have if you've gone, I'd bet. Not only is it like a trip through the passionate and obscure inner reaches of Rob Nelson's brain, it's a showcase for the best emerging Minnesota documentary work.
Tonight is no exception. Mike Reano's trailer for 24x24 screens at 9:30 before The Outsider. We have the first few minutes for you here, a Minnesota Stories exclusive! Reano's doc profiles the gravel-throated Chicago film critic Michael Wilmington. Watching this trailer, you get the feeling Wilmington is the last of a certain breed of American intellectual character.

Sorry, no new story today. But congratulations to Rybak and Coleman. Now I can leave Rybak in Minnesota Stories banner rotation.

Another good post! The notion of "arbiters" of taste and style can be paralleled to almost all forms of media. All I want to add here is that the viewer-consumer-end-user also "votes". Tacit duplicities continually circle between practitioner and theorist. But we all play a role in what is made, what is watched, and the "values" we give. I choose to "vote" for this vlog. MS deserves my time and focus, regardless of what others may think. All good content eventually rises.
