Once a year, Minnesota musicians play round-the-clock for Marshall Field's Day of Music. It's really an amazing experience, both for the diversity of talent and the novelty of not having to go home after bar close. Here's a taste of what you could see between midnight and 3am.

This was my first time seeing any of these guys, and I loved them all. I'm a sucker for spacey rock like Dallas Orbiter (esp. after a drink or two). I'd heard a lot about Charlie Parr, and the room was packed with admirers. As soon as a space opened up and I stepped foot backstage at Orchestra Hall, I went "Ohhhh - *now* I get it!" He's the real deal.
And, in spite of the little chatter at the end of this video, I think Michael Yonkers channels the chaos of the universe, with a little Loud Reed thrown in for good measure. It's pure.
I love this for a lot of reasons, not the least of which is now I can experience all kinds of great local happenings from the comfort of my own office chair! thank you for giving me the excuse I need never to leave my house.
